Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I just ran into the CTD on Quicksave issue. Apparently something becomes bugged with the Autosaves and Quicksave files and the only way to fix it is to delete those from the load menu and load one's last hard save. Afterward everything worked correctly. Problem is I just lost hours and hours of game play because I rely too heavy on Quicksave. Have to train myself to purposefully hard save before, during and after major undertakings. I'd completed Lost to the Ages, Horn of Jurgen Windcaller and a bunch of miscellaneous quests, not to mention all the skill level ups and perk placements and ALL my museum displays /cry. I just stopped yesterday and got a good night's sleep to start over again this morning.

TL;DR Hard save more often than you think is necessary!

Oy. Didn't know about that at all! Think I'll start hard saving before I close my game out.

I quit using Quicksave the first time that happened to me (which was NOT in Skyrim, think it might have been Daggerfall). And I never bother loading autosaves as they're all too likely to be corrupted anyway.

I always have ZILLIONS of hard saves - I usually save at least every 5 minutes. Yup, I'm totally anal about that.

One of the nice things about the Survival Options mod for Fallout 4 survival mode is that you can set up timed hard saves. I think the intervals are 5, 10, and 15 minutes.

Yeah that is definitely a nice feature for FO4 with the SO mod. Not sure if there is one for SSE though. Would be nice!

I always hard-save after completing a difficult task, and at the end of a session. I also generally try to save every 20 minutes or so; Bethesda games do have "memory leaks," and do tend to bomb out if played too long at a time.

I create a series of named saves, and I overwrite the oldest of the series each time I save. It's safer than quicksaving, but better than hanging on to old saves. Then I create a new series every few levels.

I do NOT return to old saves unless there's some kind of corruption. My feeling with roleplaying games is that "done is done" (even if not "dead is dead"), so I don't want to entertain the temptation to go back and redo something.

Other than using the console or changing the name of the file how do make a "named" save? I don't have that option in SSE or Fallout 4. Fallout 4 is notorious for overwriting older files because the save names are based on the area like Commonwealth, Far Harbor, etc. Very annoying! SSE you click SAVE and it does the hardsave with a picture of wherever you happen to be and stat data, but one doesn't get to change the name.

I couldn't change the name on LE either.

At least SSE organizes saves by character. That was a needed change.

But other than console, I can't think of a way to do it.

IIRC, you use the console. Type save "savename". In SSE, the saves are in profiles using character names aren't they? So that may require a different system. FO I have no idea. Maybe reddit, or google?

Not really into having to use the console for saves. Fallout 4 I've learned to Save in an area I haven't before and Skyrim I'll just hardsave as usual instead of relying so heavily on Quicksave. Just redid Arkngthamz with a Hard Save before entering and a Hard Save when done. Don't want to do anymore repeats of long arse dungeon crawls. ;)

Nope, don't like killing the little 'uns, and I've always been lousy at playing a mage. Spellsword is as close as I come and usually with some destruction or a summon or two.

Exactly. I have never had a write-corruption with a console save, in any game since Morrowind. Beth's "normal" file system is a known disaster area.

I don't use SSE, but I'd be very surprised if it works any differently.

I forgot how much gold you can find with the Imperial Luck race power. Verina is level 20 and has 10k gold, even after buying and upgrading Breezehome.

Yes, love lighting that place up, hehe.

I've never played an Imperial, but the extra gold would be very nice!

There is gold everywhere. On virtually every body and in every container. It's not as broken as Prowler's Profit, though.

Comes in handy buying houses though! I always tell myself I'm not going to get so many, but I do anyway, I can't seem to help myself! Even that darn Proudspire Manor, sheesh, damned expensive!

Samesies. I initially only wanted to use Harborside, but it is so danged far away that I bought Breezehome for a more central location to dump loot into.

And then forget to hoard loot.
