Lothran is deep in the wood now and has just cleared out Isolated House as well as some Conjurers at fort Black Foot where he also happened to meet an Orc Adventurer. Never went too deep inside the fort and come evening Lothran set up camp high up on a ledge with no path to it. Just like when he camps out at the fort in Pale Pass. Makes it easier to sleep.

Lothran is now on his way to Anvil and has just stopped by Shetcombe Farm to get out of the rain. This place will forever remind me of when we hit our first Abomb. And yesterday while playing we actually hit another one, our tenth since 2007 if I have kept track of it right.

Fun fact: Did you know that the flax in the area around Isolated House are blue and red/hot pink only? No yellow flax at all.

Anvil. High noon, sun with a light breeze.

It's been one year since last time and it is good to be back in this nice little town with the endless sea just outside. Lothran has just conducted some business and is currently resting outside the Queens Arms, contemplating on what to do next. Perhaps a visit to the harbor? Yes, I think that will do nicely.

I love Anvil's harbor area. I used to have a house mod in the harbor on the - hmm - boardwalk heading for the lighthouse.

When Lothran was on his way to Anvil, he stopped by Gottshaw Inn as usual and used the opportunity to visit Garlas Agea which surprisingly was unexplored! Fancy that; an Ayleid ruin still untouched after all these years, and one so close to a main road!

Gotta love that kinda thing!! I've done it on purpose with Dwemer ruins in Skyrim.. if a quest didn't send the character there, we didn't go..and didn't do some quest's that I knew would.

But it's beyond cool when you find one that you didn't even know was there!

Summer has basically come and with that Lothran is now parked in Anvil. We won't see each other as often now until fall but the occasional walkabout will still happen. It's so beautiful by the seaside :3:

I'm imagining Lothran sitting in a deck chair on Anvil's boardwalk, reading "The Further Adventures of the Lusty Argonian." :)

Today Lothran got up from his chair on Anvil's boardwalk and went for a swim. Beautiful weather and the water was perfect. He swam around for awhile, taking in the sight of Anvil from the sea.

After some time when he looked down into the depths, something caught his eye. Something was glistening from the darkness below. Curiosity got the better of Lothran, as it always does, and equipped with a water breathing spell he moved down towards it. When he finally reached whatever was shining, he saw that it was a helmet. A glass helmet was laying there beside the remains of what Lothran guessed was its former owner. It didn't look as he was gonna miss it, so Lothran grabbed it and went up again to take a better look at it before any Slaughterfish came around.

Up on a little island near Anvil, where a Nirnroot was quietly playing its tunes, Lothran could read the inscription on the helmet. Apparently its name was Fin Gleam. Lothran could also sense it was heavily enchanted so he put it on to find out what with. First thing he noticed was that it gives the bearer night vision, as the whole world turned blue instantly. Second thing he noticed was that he could see mud crabs glow purple now, so it also had Detect Life. But there was something else too. A feeling that Lothran knew well from his spell earlier. Helmet on, the Dunmer took to the depths again. And sure enough; he could now breathe fine without having to cast his spell.

Fin Gleam is one of those things that I always had to studiously avoid remembering. Those "hidden" treasures can pretty much ruin a roleplay, if it becomes a habit to "find" them.

Although Oblivion is nowhere near as bad for roleplay-wrecking as Morrowind is. There's stuff "hidden" in Morrowind that can make a Level 1 character massively overpowered.

You know.... I still remember where EVERY "really special thing" is. In any game I've ever played.

Truth. I can load up a game.... and move to every OP item. Kind of sucks to have that sort of "game memory".

I've always been that way. I also remember how to get through every tough fight, even in games as old as the SSI Gold Box ones set in Forgotten Realms. In the first of that series, for instance, you have to clear a temple with around 140 mixed melee and caster types (but no dedicated healers). Now, you have a party of 6, so how hard it is depends on party makeup for one thing. Took me way too long to sort out that the way the mobs were stacked in the temple courtyard meant that my casters could send fireballs into the back ranks from range and not get return fire. So by the time the back ranks were down, I could start on the front rank, with my casters behind the cleric, the paladin, and the fighter - almost no one got hurt, and the temple was clear in very short order.

Yeah, me too. That's why I said "studiously avoid remembering," as in "pretend I forgot that, because this character has no business knowing about that Ebony shortsword stuck in the ground and nearly invisible, on top of that hill."
