Age of Empires II

I've been playing Age of Empires II HD in the evenings lately. I've played the game off and on for years, but never really delved into the more diverse aspects of it. I always played with All Techs checked, and usually just turtled behind walls and castles until my Wonder was complete or the Relic timer ran out. I'm learning the ins and outs of the different civilizations this time, and trying to win in other ways (and without cheat codes). Been having a blast with it, since it's easier to get in to with limited time.

SIL used to play the first game; he doesn't have time to play anything any more.
Loving fantasy since 1960 or so, FRPGs since 1975 (appx), and CRPGs since 1985....

When the Dark comes rising, six shall turn it back,
Three from the Circle, three from the track;
Wood, bronze, iron; water, fire, stone:
Five will return, and one go on alone.

I think I still have the discs for the first one floating around somewhere. No idea if it would even run on Windows 10. AoE II didn't, and I ended up having to buy it on Steam.

It would probably run on DOSBox. I think it was released in 1997, so it's probably actually DOS code with a W95 overlay.
Today is the last day before Tomorrow happens. Procrastinators take note.

Looks like I will be buying the Definitive Edition. It's releasing in the fall on Steam, and will include all of the DLCs (most of which I don't have) for $20 [$15 if you already have the HD version (I do)].

The final 2 DLC's I didn't have were 75% off on the Steam store - got both to complete my AoE II collection!
